The Spring Training Camps of the FVQ

Since early April, the Quebec Sailing Team have been training hard in preparation for the competitive season. To better compare ourselves to countries with a year round sailing season, it is essential that our on water training goes from April 1st to December 1st with a few training camps and regattas in Florida during the transitional winter months. With the winter circuit and already close to 30 intensive training hours spread across four spring training camps, the Quebec sailing team is now ready to compete against sailors that train all winter long.

1st Camp (April 4-8) – Corinthian Yacht Club, Cape May, NJ

14 athletes

Strong winds of 15-20 knots, average temperature of 8C-10C

2nd Camp (April 28-29) – CVMM, Magog, QC

15 athletes
Coach : Nicolas Kim, Geneviève Bougie-Bastien, Geneviève Gagné
Light winds of 3-6 knots, average temperature of 11C-14C

3rd Camp (May 5-6) – Lac St-Joseph, Fossambeault , QC

12 athletes

Specialists : Félix Berrigan (Physical trainer)
Strong winds of 15-18 knots the first day, average temperature of 12C
Light winds of 2-5 knots the second day, average temparture of 18C

4th Camp – (May 24-27) CVL, Oka, QC

Coach : Carmen Denis, Matthieu Dubreuq, Olivier Charbonneau, Nicolas Kim, Geneviève Gagné

Light winds in the morning, growing to 7-12knots in the afternoon, average temperature of 22C.

With all our spring training, the team is enthusiastic and mentally confident for the upcoming season. The team will have a similar training schedule for the fall.
