2007 Laser North Americans
Fresh out of their academic studies, Laser and Radial athletes from the Quebec Sailing Team were hard at work, preparing for the 2007 Laser North Americans held in Hyannis Port, MA. The grade 1 event was used to qualify North American athletes for the 2008 Laser Worlds in Australia.
Anticipated to be a windy event, the athletes were not disappointed. After 4 days of training on site with winds between 10-18 knots and medium chop with no swells, the team was ready for the first day of qualifiers. Unfortunately, it was cancelled due to strong wind gusts of 25knots and large, steep rolling waves.
The second day of qualifiers was raced in lighter winds of about 12-15 knots. The remaining two days of the event had oscillating winds diminishing constantly from 12 knots the morning of the 1st day of split-fleet racing to 4-5 knots during the last day of the regatta.
