Mandatory Pre-requisites (dinghy)

Pre-requisites for learn to cruise instructors

In order to be eligible for the instructor training program, you must:

    -Be at least 16 years old
    -Produce copies of: Bronze Sail IV or higher
    -Current First Aid certificate
    -Current Boat Rescue certificate or current Swimming certificate (Bronze Medallion or higher)
    -NCCP Coaching Theory
    -Pleasure Craft Operator Card

In order to help you update, the Quebec Sailing Federation will offer pre-requisite weekends during which it is possible to obtain the First Aid and Boat Rescue certificates, as well as one Green clinic and one Blue clinic during which pre-requisites training will be included.

First Aid

Any national program at the Emergency level (CPR recommended but not mandatory)

The only LSS program recognized as an equivalency for First Aid is National Lifeguarding (Junior RCR and Senior RCR will not be considered as equivalencies).

Certification Period: 2 - 3 years, depending on certifying organization

Certification Period

Sailing Instructor certification is valid for three (3) years, starting December 31 of certification year.
