From Zero to Me in 500 days
With almost no sailing experience, in June of 2018, I began my training while delivering a boat from Nassau to Lake Champlain, which led to a to a crazy, fast-paced series of practical and theoretical training sessions, eventually ending with the purchase of a boat in Annapolis. I will tell you how I mapped out this dream to make it a life project and a great family adventure.
13h00 to 14h15 - Luc Bernuy, Sailing instructor and sailor,
Heading South : It's All About Being Organized
Hundreds of people dream of heading South, but not all of them get there and many leave poorly prepared. Pre-departure organization is the key to having a successful trip. Luc Bernuy, public speaker and author of “L’Intracostal, le guide”, will deliver practical ideas for leaving organized, while adding his usual humour. He will also stay on location all day, for book signings.
14h30 to 15h30 - Diego Creimer, Communication Director, David Suzuki Foundation,
Plastic Waste at Sea
The St-Lawrence flows through our veins, yet every year we dump large amounts of waste into it, including plastics. In Canada, nearly 90% of plastics end up in landfills, incinerators or in our lakes, parks and oceans. We can do better! It’s urgent to act now and reduce our overconsumption of plastic and improve the management of our recyclable residues. In this conference, we will discuss plastic pollution in water, its effects on health and ecosystems, and solutions to mitigate this scourge of the 21 century.
