The 2019 Youth Sailing World Championships were held in the city of Gdynia, Poland. Athletes from all around the world raced in sometimes difficult conditions in Gdanska Bay, from July 13th to 20th.
Quebec was proudly represented by 4 athletes from the Royal St-Lawrence yacht club race team; Adrianna Baird, Morgan Kittson, Thomas Staples and William Staples.
On the women’s side in 29ers, teammates Morgan Kittson and Adrianna Baird finished 14th out of a total of 25 boats, finishing 4 of 13 races in the top 10.
Athletes Thomas and William Staples finished 19th out of 28 teams in 29ers, also competing in a total of 13 races. Their effort even earned them a 2nd place in the second race.
A couple of athletes from Canada were also competing, especially in the Radial and 420 classes.
