Montreal, March 23, 2022 – It is with great sadness that the Fédération de voile du Québec and Sail Canada have learned of the sudden passing of a great sailor and instructor, Guy Boulanger.

Passionate about sailing early on, an instructor and an evaluator of cruising sailing, an offshore survival instructor as well as a representative for Voile Québec at Sail Canada, Guy was a great pedagogue who taught many sailors, contributed to the development of sailing in Canada and shared his passion with everyone.Guy_2.jpeg

Co-founder of the Navtours Sailing School in Quebec, an instructor, he had recently retired to fully focus on his great passion which was sailing.

“Today, the entire sailing community is mourning the loss of a man. Gone too soon, too quickly at the age of 53, Guy was above all a man with a great heart. We will remember the twinkle he had in his eye, his joy for life, his smile and his ability to delight us when he would talk about sailing. A model of professionalism, he was loved and appreciated by his colleagues and interns, he made the practice of sailing shine and he will leave a lasting mark after the time he spent with us,” jointly stated Voile Québec and Sail Canada. “Goodbye Guy and wherever you are, we wish you fair winds and know that here below, we will never forget you.”

Sail Canada and the Fédération de voile du Québec express their sincere condolences to Guy’s family, friends and relatives. Details regarding funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
