Montreal, August 24, 2022 - Girls in the spotlight at these Games!
The Canada Summer Games, held every 4 years, are the largest multi-sport event in the country and represent the pinnacle of inter-provincial/territorial sport competition.
After a year-long postponement due to COVID-19, the Canada Summer Games went ahead in August 2022. Sailing events were at the Niagara on the Lake Sailing Club, August 14-21, 2022.
The competition will have been marked by the weather conditions and a very light wind, and by our girls athletes who all come back with a medal!
In ILCA 6 and 7 class it is 8 races that may have been done while in 29er class we were able to have 12 races.
Quebec was represented by 6 athletes:
Francis Charland, CVDM - ILCA 7
Loa Dinel, CVDM/BLBC - ILCA 6
Julia Capolicchio & Bianca MacHabée, RStLYC - 29er Women
Sebastien Hubert & Laurent Tessier, RStLYC - 29er Men
And the team was supervised by Caroline de Alcala and Hugo Morin.
Despite the light wind, our athletes will have performed during all these Games! Always positive they will have fought until the end!
Our medalists:
Loa Dinel – ILCA 6 wins silver
Julia Capolicchio & Bianca MacHabée – 29er get bronze
Francis Charland and Sébastien Hubert & Laurent Tessier finished at the foot of the podium in 4th position.
